Starting A Junk Hauling Company
If you have been thinking about starting your own junk removal company then there are a few things that you want to be sure you do in order to prepare for the start of that company. Some of the things listed here may vary depending on where you live, but this article will give you a good rule of thumb that you can follow.
Get the proper licenses
The very first thing you want to do is to be sure you get all of the licenses and other legal documentation that you are going to need to have in order to be legal. You should go down to your county office where you can fill out the paperwork and pay the necessary fees to legally do business in your area. You will more than likely need a city business license and you may need to register your company's name.
Get the proper insurance
You will need to get insurance and make sure you are bonded. These things are extremely important because they will help to protect you just in case a customer finds fault with something and/or tries to accuse you of damages. It won't matter whether or not you are guilty or innocent of those damages, insurance and bonding can help protect your assets.
Get your tetanus shot
If you aren't currently up to date on your tetanus booster, then you should make sure you get one before you start physically hauling junk. You never know when you may get hurt on a piece of metal or another piece of debris that can make you very, very sick if you aren't properly protected. In this same respect, you should also make sure that anyone you hire to help you has their tetanus shot before they start as well.
Purchase a trailer
You won't have to worry about having top of the line equipment as a new company, but you should look professional and be able to do the job correctly and efficiently. Get yourself a trailer that allows you to take big hauls. You can buy a trailer used, but you should have it painted so it looks like it is in good condition and you also want good, durable tires on it since it will be riding over debris a lot of the time.
Purchase a trailer hitch
You will also need to be able to hitch that trailer to your towing vehicle, so you will also need to purchase a trailer hitch that meets the weight requirements for your loads and that meets the standards and requirements for both the towing vehicle and the trailer you will be hooking it up to. Contact a company like Geny Hitch for more info.
